safety on the internet

Ways to keep your email protected:

Time Magazine Recommends the following to stay safe with Email while using the Internet:

1.Enable Two-Factor Authentication:

"Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your accounts by requiring another code in addition to your memorized password."

2. Don’t fall for “phishing” scams:

"Phishing is an age-old technique in which users are tricked into submitting their login credentials on a fake website, only to have that information sent to hackers instead."

3. Don’t use the same password for multiple sites

"If there’s one cardinal sin when it comes to online security, it’s using the same password over and over again across different services."

This is image is an example from the website of L.L. Beazley Elementary School. It is an Internet Safety Rules & Pledge that students sign. It is appropriate for both elementary and middle school-aged students and is well-worded to meet the needs of both students and teachers.

"Reducing online harassment and bullying shouldn’t be the sole goal of digital citizenship education (because safety is only the means to competent engagement and participation), but it certainly provides solid justification for digital citizenship instruction in our schools." Anne Collier
